May our desire be that God be known, honored, loved and exalted in every thought and action -- above ourselves.
"Baptized" in music before he was born, Mr. Young experienced the sound of music at an early age.
He was raised in an environment surrounded by music under the influence of his father, Steven Young, a music teacher and an accomplished musician. It's not surprise that Marcus is a master at playing multiple instruments.
Marcus is playing out what he was born to do - deliver pure soulful melodic and inspirational songs infused with jazz rhythms, "Groove Jazz" as Marcus calls it. He's young, he's fresh, he's talented and stands at the threshold of becoming a musical icon. His invasion in the music industry has already begun.
Just weeks away from releasing his debut CD, homegrown talent, Marcus (known on stage as Mr. Young), is ready to take the music industry by force. A singer, songwriter, composer and musician, Marcus has been blessed to share his God-given talent with both national and international audiences.
Marcus has worked with the likes of Kirk Whalum, Marcus Miller and Steven Hurd. He has expanded his musical horizons in Atlanta, Georgia; Houston, Texas; San Diego, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia; Nashville, Tennessee; and the island of Jamaica. He has toured Europe, Paris, Italy and Germany.
Marcus says, "Music is a universal language. I want my music to have a mass appeal - over coming age, language and religious barriers." Marcus is truly a one-man show. His debut project, entitled, "Sit Back, Relax and Listen to the Music" and his second album "Moments in Time" are self-produced, creative talents filled with instrumental sounds, uplifting vocals, and promotes an atmosphere that's easy on the ears and soft on the heart.
Currently residing in Fort Washington, MD, Marcus studied briefly at Middle Tennessee State University and Prince George's Community College. He is a graduate of Friendly High School and attends Mt. Ennon Baptist Church located in Clinton, MD, where he serves as Director of the Youth Choir.
Marcus arranges, composes and produces. He aspires to become a Minister of music. Until then, he continues to make his musical mark.
